Harvest updates
Overview
We’re aware of natural gas service issues at the Harvest community in O’Fallon, Missouri, and we understand that any loss of service – particularly during colder weather – is incredibly inconvenient.
To date, our investigation has revealed that due to unknown factors, water entered Spire’s gas main in the Harvest community. To effectively address this, our crews are working to pinpoint the exact location of the water.
We’re committed to resolving the issue as soon as possible and to providing the community with updates.
To the best of our knowledge, this is not a homebuilder issue. Please direct any inquiries to us at Spire by calling us at 800-887-4173 and press 1 if you have an emergency.
Project Update: March 28, 2025
Our crews have completed excavations on Hopewell, and we continue to use the camera at this location to help identify any presence of moisture.
During the week of March 31, we will continue to perform camera work and main preparation into the neighborhood to identify the presence of moisture.
We plan to extract any pockets of water that are identified during this work.
We expect to have very limited interruption of service to customers during this process.
Project Update: March 26, 2025
We continue to excavate and prep main on Hopewell for camera operations. We expect to complete camera work on the Hopewell section from Fall Harvest to Highway N shortly. Additionally, we plan to cross Highway N to investigate the main on Duello Rd.
We have begun to identify other areas that will need to be excavated for additional camera work. No excavation will take place without prior notification to impacted customers.
Thank you again for your patience as we work to resolve this issue.
About the timing of implementing a permanent solution and potential temporary service impacts as we work to resolve the issue
In order for us to remedy the issue, we will need temperatures to stabilize. This means that once winter temperatures have ended — and once these areas of pooling have been identified — Spire crews may need to stop the gas flow to specific areas of the gas main for short periods of time to remove the water and dry out our pipelines.
While we’re doing this, homeowners may experience short periods of time without active natural gas service while a Spire technician purges the service lines.
Customers who are impacted by this work will have advance notice whenever possible.
To those impacted, we are committed to ensuring you and your family have the energy you need and are working to resolve it as quickly as possible. Thank you for your patience.
Additionally, we are working to further remedy the issue by installing strategically placed filters throughout the main lines to help block and separate water out of the natural gas system going forward.
Please direct any inquiries to us at Spire by calling us at 800-887-4173 and pressing 1 if you experience an unexpected service outage or have a gas-related emergency.
