I’d like to transfer gas service from my current location to a new address.


How to move your Spire service to a new address

1. Request an appointment online

 

You'll need: 

  • Your new address
  • The date you’d like service to transfer into your name
  • In some cases, a service appointment may be necessary to connect you. In that case, request an appointment.

 

2. At the time and place of the appointment, please help us by making sure:

 

  • An adult 18 is home.
  • Your electricity and water are on at the time of your appointment.
  • Pets are secured so our technician can access the equipment safely.

 

What we’ll do

  1. If the gas at your home or business is turned off, we'll send a technician to your home to complete a meter inspection and safety check so we can turn the gas on. In this case, an adult will need to be home at the time of the appointment.
  2. If the gas at your home or business is still on, we'll simply need to get a read at the meter to start service. In this case, no one needs to be home.

Please note: If your home or business was newly constructed, you’ve had new natural gas equipment or piping installed, or if the location where you are requesting service has been vacant for a period of time, local laws may require that you get a permit for a local inspection. Check with your local city or county for the required inspections, or a Spire representative can help you.

 

Scheduling tips

  • If you're transferring service online, you'll be able to see a list of appointment dates and times that are available. If you're calling in to transfer service, the next available appointments will be provided to you over the phone. Be sure to select a date and time that is most convenient for you. 
  • Please note, fall and winter are our busiest times, so please allow extra time when scheduling.
  • Service appointments may not be available on weekends or holidays.
