Benefits of pipeline upgrades
Our mission is to safely and reliably deliver the natural gas our customers need. To do this, our crews focus on keeping our natural gas pipeline infrastructure – including the pipelines in your neighborhoods and throughout your community – upgraded and efficiently operating.
Since 2020, we’ve invested more than $1.4 billion in pipeline infrastructure upgrades across Alabama, Mississippi and Missouri to better serve our customers. Take a deeper dive into what new infrastructure means for you.
- Safety and reliability. Modernized pipes help prevent leaks and corrosion and are flexible enough to withstand thawing and freezing during cold weather. This means you’re less likely to experience a natural gas emergency.
- Improved service. Throughout some more established parts of our service territories, our systems were installed before modern conveniences like generators, pool heaters and other outdoor living accessories were created. Many of these appliances require modernized pipelines to operate efficiently and – most importantly – safely. So when your neighborhood moves to a new system, you can upgrade your gas features with peace of mind.
- More efficient energy. Upgrading infrastructure also reduces maintenance costs, making it easier to repair when compared to older materials in the event of an unexpected emergency.
- Fuels economic growth and job creation. When industries look to invest in a community, infrastructure like natural gas systems matter greatly. Having a modern natural gas system doesn’t just benefit residential customers, it also ensures that when business is ready to expand or relocate to a community we serve, we’re ready to deliver.
