Spire, middle Tennessee’s new natural gas utility provider, introduces new brand, promotes customer awareness

  • Spire now serves former Piedmont Natural Gas customers in Nashville and surrounding communities
  • As of June 1, all service technicians and service vehicles will have Spire branding and colors
  • Spire field technicians will be recognized by their orange and grey shirts, with the Spire logo on ID badges and vehicles
  • Spire customers will continue to receive and pay their bills through Piedmont Natural Gas during the utility’s transition

NASHVILLE (May 28, 2026) – As natural gas customers in the Nashville area see a new name and logo throughout the community starting June 1, 2026, middle Tennessee’s new gas utility Spire wants to raise awareness and ease confusion for customers.

On March 31, 2026, Spire completed its acquisition of the Piedmont Natural Gas business in Tennessee from Duke Energy and continues to integrate services. As part of the transition, starting June 1, all service technicians and service vehicles will have Spire branding and colors. Spire field technicians will be recognized by their orange and gray shirts with the Spire logo, all employees will have Spire ID badges, and all vehicles will display the Spire logo. In addition, selected service-focused customer communications – including door tags used by field technicians – have been updated with Spire branding.

As a company that’s new to serving Nashville and surrounding communities, Spire wants to provide guidance for Tennessee customers when they physically see the gas provider for the first time.

“Throughout our integration of the Tennessee business, we are committed to providing customers as seamless a transition as possible,” said Spire Tennessee President Joe Hampton. “While the name and logo are different, we’re there to provide customers the same great experience with Spire that they’ve enjoyed with Piedmont.”

What Customers Can Expect

As of June 1, customers will see:

  • Spire uniforms worn by employees in the field
  • Updated identification badges with the Spire name and logo
  • Rebranded service trucks and fleet vehicles prominently displaying the Spire logo

If a customer sees a Spire employee working at or near their home or business and has questions, they are encouraged to ask for an identification badge to verify their identity. All employees have Spire ID badges.

Billing Remains Unchanged

Piedmont Natural Gas will continue to provide billing and account services, on behalf of Spire during the transition. For now, customers will experience no changes to their bills, account numbers and how they pay their natural gas bills. Customers will still call Piedmont at 800-752-7504 for emergencies and customer service. The full transition to Spire is expected to be complete by summer 2027.
