More than a coat: Bundling warmth and joy for St. Louis children

Putting on a winter coat before stepping outside for the day may seem like a normal routine.

However, for 27 million children in the U.S. living in homes with fixed or limited incomes, a coat is a luxury that not all can afford.

At Spire, we’re in the business of serving our communities and keeping people warm and safe – even on the coldest days. That’s why teaming up with community partners in St. Louis for a children’s coat drive is a natural fit.

In early December, Spire team members participated in the annual 'Winterize Kids' event, donating 1,100 new coats to St. Louis children in need. Hundreds of families came to Florissant to get coats ahead of the cold winter months.

“Children deserve to be warm when walking to school and playing outside. Showing up for our community is an important part of what we do at Spire. So participating in this coat drive and seeing all the smiling faces is what it’s all about.”
