Brightening spirits and decking the halls
Volunteers transform Ronald McDonald House into a winter wonderland for the holidays

For families facing the unimaginable challenge of having a child undergoing medical treatment, the Ronald McDonald House serves as a beacon of compassion.
The nonprofit provides a home away from home for families and offers a warm and supportive environment where they can find respite during a difficult journey.
By offering accommodations, meals and a community of other families for emotional support, Ronald McDonald House extends far beyond a temporary residence.
Several Spire employees in southwest Missouri spent a Day for Good bringing holiday cheer to families staying at Ronald McDonald House in Joplin. Volunteers trimmed Christmas trees, hung lights and set up other holiday decor in preparation for a tree lighting and open house event.
“Ronald McDonald House makes it possible for families to focus on their child’s health instead of worrying about getting to and from treatment.
"That’s why it’s so important for us to step up and help make special moments for those staying at the house. We are all very fortunate for what we have and what we can do, so it's always good to give back," said Michael Fornelli, Spire manager in southwest Missouri.
