“The Montgomery Area Council on Aging is committed to feeding 416 senior citizens a hot lunch each weekday,” said Traci Herndon MACOA volunteer coordinator. “And we have more than 200 seniors on our waiting list. In order to meet our commitment and increase the number of people we can help, we rely on community volunteers like Spire to help us.”

MACOA volunteers deliver lunches to homebound seniors who are unable to prepare their own meals. It’s also an opportunity for volunteers to check the recipients’ welfare.

“As an energy provider, we visit customer homes daily and gain insight regarding the needs of our community’s most vulnerable population – seniors,” said Braxton Guinn, Spire area manager for Montgomery. “Being part of this volunteer project allowed us to participate in meeting an important need for them.”
